RCM tip of the day: Boost employee morale

Do not forget about the people behind your revenue cycle processes.

Jim Yarsinsky, CRCE-1, President, Founder, Expeditive: Dealing with constant claim denials and the pressure of changing insurance requirements can easily discourage revenue cycle employees. No matter how sound your procedures are, they won’t work if employees are too overwhelmed to keep up. Workers may be overwhelmed because of insufficient staffing that results in workloads they can’t handle on their own, or they may not have received proper training regarding new requirements. Communicate regularly with all workers and find out what you can do to make their jobs easier and set them up for success. If employees bring up a concern, make sure they know that their voices are being heard and their input will be considered.
