The eliminated positions include the public relations coordinator at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Jessica Castle, vice president of marketing for the health system, told the Albany Herald that the impacted workers “will receive a severance and transitional assistance.”
The health system has undergone restructuring efforts over the last couple years as a cost saving measure, and Phoebe officials attribute the layoffs to “sequestration and limited reimbursements brought on by lack of Medicaid expansion in Georgia,” according to the report.
