NorthShore University HealthSystem-Evanston (Ill.) Hospital. Evanston Hospital is home to the LEED Silver-certified Kellogg Cancer Care Center. The hospital participates in all six HHI Challenges and is a member of the Evanston Green Ribbon Committee, a group that seeks to lead sustainable change in the city. As part of the committee, Evanston Hospital upgraded its building systems to save energy, converted to T8 bulbs for higher efficiency, turns down its ventilation systems in noncritical areas during evenings, recycles plastic packaging from OR medical equipment, sterilizes and reuses sharps containers, and switched to reusable trays and non-plastic foam cups in its cafeteria.
