Meet the organization: Located in the second largest city in Illinois, this health system employs over 3,000 people and, on Jan. 1, 2015, became a division of UW Health, an academic health center associated with the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The merger will allow UW and SwedishAmerican to improve patient care through $255 million in capital investments in Rockford, Ill. over the next five years. In July 2014, SwedishAmerican Health System received Gold level designation as one of Illinois' Healthiest Worksites. SwedishAmerican was one of only four honorees from Illinois recognized in the Gold level for its efforts to show exceptional commitment to improve the health of its associates.

Added benefits: SwedishAmerican provides its employees with a customizable, comprehensive insurance program that can be updated annually. The Health System currently provides daycare through its privately owned on-site facility. The Ryan Jury Early Child Development and Learning Center opened in September 2006 and accommodates 300 children. The day care offers summer child care, schools out care and emergency child care for associates.
