Abbott Northwestern Hospital’s cardiovascular services and the Minneapolis Heart Institute collaborated 10 years ago to create the 256-bed Abbott Northwestern’s Heart Hospital. Today, the hospital offers heart transplants and transcatheter aortic valve implantations, interventional cardiology services, a pulmonary hypertension program and treatment for heart valve disorders. Abbott Northwestern is a designated Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care and the No. 2 hospital in the country for cardiac care, as ranked by CareChex. U.S. News & World Report recognized Abbott Northwestern among its top 50 hospitals in the country for cardiology and heart surgery in its 2015-16 rankings.
