Several aspects of UPMC’s Pittsburgh campus are designed for sustainability, including Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, which has a LEED Silver certification for its intensive care unit and patient care unit expansions. UPMC has been focused on protecting the environment for nearly 10 years through various initiatives. For instance, the system installed solar panels at its Hillman Cancer Center, and 90 percent of UPMC’s shuttle fleet will run on natural gas instead of diesel fuel by the end of the year. This year, Magee-Womens Hospital earned Practice Greenhealth’s Greenhealth Partner for Change Award.
