SSM St. Joseph Hospital West (Lake Saint Louis, Mo.). SSM St. Joseph Hospital West is home to the only state-designated trauma center in Western St. Charles County. The 122-bed hospital was established in 1986 and now is the leading provider of emergency and obstetric services in three counties. In 2014, the hospital had 43,260 emergency visits and 1,149 births. In 2015, SSM St. Joseph Hospital West earned the Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades and has earned several “A” grades for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group.
