Temple University Health System posts $2.9M operating loss in Q3

Philadelphia-based Temple University Health System reported a $2.9 million operating loss for the nine months that ended March 31, compared to an operating an operating loss of $38.1 million in the same period a year ago.

The system reported revenue of $1.1 billion for the third quarter, up from $1 billion in the same period of last year, with net patient service revenue jumping nearly 6 percent to $527.9 million.

TUHS was able to keep its expenses mostly in check in the third quarter, with expenses increasing 4.9 percent to $1.1 billion

After factoring in the system's investment income and nonoperating income, TUHS posted net income of $3.3 million, compared to a net loss of $27.9 million for the same period of 2014.
