Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System and Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Pharmacy joined forces to bring BayCare-branded telehealth services to Publix locations.
The telehealth sites will feature private rooms with video conferencing technology, so that patients at these sites can access physicians on BayCare's network. The remote physician may direct patients to use available diagnostic equipment, such as stethoscopes and blood pressure cuffs, although Publix Pharmacy support staff will also be available for assistance.
The BayCare-Publix agreement also sets up BayCare screening stations in all Publix locations. Patients who use these in-store health and wellness kiosks to perform screenings can send their results directly to their BayCare physician. Another component of the agreement establishes on-site Publix Pharmacies at five BayCare hospital locations.
BayCare and Publix expect to finalize the details of this collaboration by the end of the year.
