The hospital has eliminated seven of roughly 30 leadership positions, and more layoffs will be implemented by Jan. 31, according to the report. As a result, some directors have taken on additional responsibilities.
Employees affected by the layoffs are receiving severance packages and job search assistance.
According to hospital officials, Walla Walla General has seen patient admissions drop 20 percent recently, the Union-Bulletin reported. By eliminating some manager and director positions, the hospital says it is becoming more lean and efficient, according to the report.
