Columbus Regional Health to Cut Jobs

Whiteville, N.C.-based Columbus Regional Health System, part of Carolinas HealthCare System, plans to lay off employees in the next 30 to 60 days, according to a report by The News Reporter.

No details have been released as to how many employees will be affected by the cuts. CRHS employs more than 600 people filling about 520 full-time positions, according to the report. Henry Hawthorne III, CRHS' president and CEO, called the reductions "significant."

CRHS has lost $2 million in 2014's first quarter due to lower patient volumes and Medicaid reimbursement cuts, according to the report.
