Hospitals add 7.3k jobs in July, continue job growth

The healthcare industry added 39,400 jobs in July, with hospitals contributing 7,300 to that total, according to Friday’s job report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Ambulatory healthcare services showed the biggest employment growth in the industry in July, adding 30,000 jobs. Nursing and residential care facilities gained 2,100 jobs last month.

In the last year to date, healthcare has added 327,000 jobs, according to BLS.

Overall, the nation’s unemployment rate in July (4.3 percent) dipped slightly compared to June, and total U.S. employment grew by 209,000.
