The 22 hospitals physicians prefer most, ranked by specialty

Physicians ranked New York City-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Cleveland Clinic and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston among the top hospitals across various specialties, according to a recent Medscape report.

Medscape analysts surveyed 8,504 physicians across more than 25 specialties between Dec. 5, 2016 and March 27, 2017. The survey concerned which hospitals physicians preferred to be treated at or where they would send a family member for treatment of a complex or difficult condition.

When describing their preferences, respondents considered whether the hospital could provide medically respected physician expertise (42 percent), maintained a good reputation among colleagues (19 percent) and had a specific physician at the facility (13 percent).
