Cleveland-based MetroHealth System, for example, is looking to employ or partner with physicians who wish to maintain independent. A representative for the system said it will consider aligning with as many high quality physicians as possible, according to the report.
Earlier this year, Cleveland Clinic formed its Quality Alliance. The alliance aligns physicians with the Clinic by working with the physicians to negotiate with insurers in return for their meeting certain quality benchmarks.
Additionally, University Hospitals, also based in Cleveland, formed its first physicians services group last year, which the system is calling the groundwork for its accountable care organization.
