Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) is pleased to announce Tom Harlan as the new CEO of ContinueCARE Hospital at Palmetto Health Baptist, Columbia, S.C., effective today, January 19, 2017. Harlan has decades of experience as the executive leader of long-term acute care hospitals, or LTACHs.

ContinueCARE Hospital at Palmetto Health Baptist is one of the 11 LTACHs owned by CHC within its CHC ContinueCARE division.

"We are pleased to welcome Tom as the executive leader of our hospital," said David Lever, Chairman of the Board, ContinueCARE Hospital at Palmetto Health Baptist. "His extensive, accomplished experience in hospital administration, especially in the LTACH arena, will be a substantial asset in the Columbia, South Carolina market."

Harlan is relocating to South Carolina from Abilene, Texas, where he has served as CEO of ContinueCARE Hospital at Hendrick Medical Center since January of 2014. While in this role, he oversaw the expansion of the facility on the campus of Hendrick Medical Center.

Prior to Harlan's role in Abilene, he also served CHC's West Texas market as Interim CEO for the ContinueCARE Hospitals in Midland and Odessa. He has been part of CHC Consulting since March of 2010, fulfilling interim management and field CEO assignments during a period of rapid development and growth of CHC's Post-Acute Services. Before he officially joined CHC, Harlan was Administrator at Harbor Hospital, Beaumont, Texas, managed at the time by CHC. Harlan has provided leadership to several LTACHs across the country.

CHC is conducting a search for a new CEO for ContinueCARE Hospital at Hendrick Medical Center. In the interim, executive leadership will be provided by CHC's April Myers, Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Operations and Holly Powell, Regional Vice President of Post-Acute Services.
