15 healthcare layoffs in June

The following healthcare layoffs were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in June. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Hallmark Health to cut 65 positions at Massachusetts hospital
Medford, Mass.-based Hallmark Health System officials said approximately 65 positions will be eliminated as part of a plan to cut inpatient services at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, also in Medford.

2. Memorial Hermann to cut additional 350 jobs
Houston-based Memorial Hermann Health System will lay off an additional 350 employees, or less than 2 percent of its total workforce of more than 25,000.

3. Medtronic lays off undisclosed number of employees
Dublin-based Medtronic confirmed it laid off employees at its campus in Memphis, Tenn.

4. Skagit Regional Health to reduce workforce to offset losses
Mount Vernon, Wash.-based Skagit Regional Health will lay off employees as it works to shore up its finances.

5. Connecticut hospital to lay off undisclosed number of employees
Waterbury (Conn.) Hospital confirmed plans to downsize its workforce by cutting positions and leaving some vacant jobs unfilled.

6. Sutter Health to lay off 72 with closure of 2 units
Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health plans to close the skilled nursing and sub-acute units at Sutter Health California Pacific Medical Center St. Luke's campus in San Francisco this fall, affecting 72 employees.

7. Mississippi Department of Mental Health authorized to cut 129 positions at 3 facilities
The Mississippi State Personnel Board approved the state department of mental health's plan to cut 129 positions before the new fiscal year begins July 1.

8. Health tech firm Inovalon to cut 113 workers
Inovalon, a Bowie, Md.-based health technology company, plans to cut 113 employees by July 10.

9. North Hawaii Community Hospital cuts 6 positions
North Hawaii Community Hospital in Kamuela, an affiliate of Honolulu-based The Queen's Health Systems, cut six positions, or 5.5 full-time equivalents.

10. Central Maine Healthcare to close urgent care facility, primary care clinic as part of cost reduction plan
Lewiston-based Central Maine Healthcare will close its urgent care facility in Auburn, Maine, its primary care clinic in Mechanic Falls, Maine, and cut 38 jobs to reduce costs.

11. Mississippi health system cuts more than 100 jobs
Meridian, Miss-based Rush Health Systems is cutting 112 jobs, or 4 percent of its total workforce.

12. MedStar hospital lays off 100 employees in attempt to close budget shortfall
MedStar Washington Hospital Center — a nonprofit, 912-bed academic medical center in the District of Columbia — is laying off 100 employees as it attempts to close a budget shortfall.

13. 60 employees to lose jobs at ETMC Trinity
East Texas Medical Center in Tyler will not renew its lease for ETMC Trinity, affecting 60 employees.

14. Geisinger lays off 46 IT employees
Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System laid off 46 IT employees to control costs.

15. Indiana hospital cuts 7 jobs amid financial struggles
Tell City, Ind.-based Perry County Memorial Hospital laid off seven employees.
