Huntington Memorial Hospital undergoes restructuring, 6 executives and directors let go: 5 things to know

Six executives and directors at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, Calif., were eliminated May 18 as the facility instituted some top-level restructuring, according to a San Gabriel Valley Tribune report.

Here are five things to know about the restructuring.

1. The restructuring involved letting go three executive-level and three director-level managers, according to Huntington Public Relations Director Eileen Neuwirth.

2. Three new job titles were created as a result of the restructuring. They are an associate chief nurse executive, a vice president of patient experience and a director of clinical partnerships.

3. As part of the restructuring, Huntington Memorial promoted two registered nurses and a third employee to director-level positions, Ms. Neuwirth wrote in a statement, according to the report.

4. The restructuring comes as the hospital has faced scrutiny from the National Labor Relations Board. The California Nurses Association union has filed numerous charges against the hospital with the NLRB since last summer, alleging coercion, harassment and interrogation by management against pro-union nurses, according to the report. And just days ago, the report notes, the union filed a complaint alleging changes in terms and conditions of employment and coercive statements.

5. Last month, nurses held a union election to join CNA. However, the NLRB has not yet certified results, and officials said the election is blocked until all charges have been cleared, according to the report.
