ONC Seeks Public Input for Federal Health IT Strategic Plan Update

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology is planning to update the Federal Health Information Technology Strategic Plan and wants input from the public, according to Planning Room, a website operated by Cornell University's eRulemaking Initiative that seeks to improve public participation in policymaking.

The ONC published the final version of the plan in 2011, and it stated that the aim of the plan was to improve health and healthcare for all Americans through the use of information and technology.

The update to the plan will include goals and strategies for the nationwide shift to electronic health records and information exchange. The Planning Room will offer individuals the opportunity to discuss these issues and be a part of the public discussion that will ultimately shape the plan.
