Epic donates excess food to local food pantries

Verona, Wis.-based Epic Systems has started giving excess food from its cafeteria to food pantries in Dane County, Wis., according to The Capital Times.

The company makes donations through Madison, Wis.-based Healthy Food for All, a project of Madison's Northside Planning Council, which launched in 2015.

This year, Healthy Food for All has doled out more than 42,000 pounds of food to local pantries. Epic makes up the most of those donations, giving between 500 pounds and 2,000 pounds each week.

"Epic takes pride that we are able to work with such a great community program that distributes nutritious food to those who need it most," said Nathan Schultz, a chef at Epic, according to the report.

Epic plans to increase its food donations in the months to come.
