CVS Health's telemedicine offering garners positive consumer feedback

Retail pharmacy and health clinic chain CVS started piloting telehealth services in 2014, and survey results published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine indicate consumers are satisfied with their telehealth consultations.

Researchers conducted a patient satisfaction survey for adults who used CVS MinuteClinic's telehealth offerings between January and September 2014.

Patients using the telehealth offerings were most likely female (70 percent), and 41 percent of patients surveyed had no usual place of care. The vast majority of those surveyed, between 94 and 99 percent, said they were "very satisfied" with the telehealth services, and one-third of patients said they preferred a telehealth visit to an in-person visit.

Researchers also found patients without medical insurance were more likely to report preferring telehealth services.
