Northwestern Memorial HealthCare sees operating gains in Q3

Chicago-based Northwestern Memorial HealthCare reported operating income of $60.4 million in its third quarter of fiscal 2015, up from $54.6 million for the same period a year ago.

The system saw its total revenue increase to $972.2 million in the second quarter, which was substantial growth from the $591.3 million in revenue it posted in the comparable period of last year.

Net patient service revenue accounted for $952.8 million of the system’s total third-quarter revenue, up from $620.7 million in the same period of 2014.

Northwestern Memorial HealthCare finished the third quarter with a net surplus of $187 million, up from $112.1 million in the comparable period of 2014.
