Take Command members, who pay a $15 monthly fee for the company’s broker services, participate in the free service by uploading an image of their medical bill for specialists to review. If an issue is flagged, the specialist will call insurers, hospitals and physicians’ offices to address the error.
The company, established in 2014, has hired about a dozen specialized negotiators with experience in hospital and insurance billing to review these images.
In a pilot program of current Take Command members, the company found bills often include erroneous codes or incorrect charges, the report states.
