7 things to know before HFMA's 2016 National Institute

The Healthcare Financial Management Association will host its 2016 National Institute June 26-29 in Las Vegas.

Here are seven things to know about the event before it kicks off.

1. HFMA's 2016 National Institute is expected to bring together approximately 5,000 healthcare professionals and vendors.

2. The exhibit hall is open Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of the conference. It will feature more than 400 businesses offering ideas and solutions for healthcare finance companies.

3. In the exhibit hall, various revenue cycle companies will show off their offerings. Here is a preview of what ZirMed, Recondo Technology and RelayHealth Financial will showcase.

  • ZirMed will showcase its end-to-end platform of cloud-based revenue cycle management solutions at booth #825.
  • Recondo Technology, in partnership with clients, will highlight revenue cycle successes at booth #1056. Recondo and its customers will demonstrate the differentiating success of its integrated pre-and post-service collection solutions including Auth-DP, ClaimStatusPlus, SurePayHealth and MySurePayHealth.
  • RelayHealth Financial will showcase new technologies and services at the conference in booth #214. Those include automated pre-authorization screening and verification, streamlined appeals processing and analytics to drive process improvement, according to a news release.

4. The exhibit hall will also feature a career center, where attendees can receive career coaching, have a professional headshot taken, get their resume reviewed and learn how to develop a social media presence. 

5. Keynote presenters at the conference include Julie Williamson, PhD, co-author of "Matter: Move Beyond the Competition, Create More Value, and Become the Obvious Choice," and Eric Topol, MD, cardiologist and author of "The Patient Will See You Now: The Future of Medicine is in Your Hands." A healthcare innovation panel is also scheduled for 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

6. In Tuesday afternoon's late-breaking session, "Cybersecurity: How to Handle a Growing Threat," attendees can hear an expert's assessment of the cyber threat landscape and ransomware, review insights around the approaches available to prevent data breaches, and recognize the cybersecurity challenges.
