Texas Health Resources, Texas Health Physicians Group Launch ACO With Cigna

Arlington-based Texas Health Resources and Texas Health Physicians Group have partnered with Cigna to form a collaborative accountable care initiative, the payer's version of accountable care organizations.

The CAC initiative, which launched Jan. 1, includes more than 17,000 Cigna health plan members.

The roughly 250 primary care physicians with THPG will coordinate all aspects of patients' care as part of the CAC initiative, and care coordinators will work with Cigna case managers to ensure care is collaborative between the payer and the providers.

"THPG's physicians and clinical team already deliver quality, patient-centered care that helps our patients live healthy and productive lives," Shawn Parsley, DO, president of THPG, said in the news release. "We're pleased to join Cigna in this partnership because the addition of immediate access to care coordinators will provide our patients with the resources they need to manage and improve their chronic conditions."
