Saint Alphonsus Health System, part of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, has launched a student loan repayment initiative to tackle healthcare workforce shortages in Idaho and surrounding regions.

The program, launched in partnership with recruitment platform Clasp, will offer structured loan repayment support over a three-year employment period to early-career professionals in high-need roles, including nurses, CRNAs surgical technologists and radiologic technologists.

“By offering substantial student loan repayment assistance, we aim to alleviate this burden, attract top-tier talent, and ensure that our communities continue to receive exceptional care,” Brooke Thrasher, chief human resources officer at Saint Alphonsus, said in a May 5 news release.

Nationally, average student loan debt for healthcare workers ranges from about $40,000 for nurses to more than $200,000 for CRNAs, Boise, Idaho-based Saint Alphonsus said in a news release. The program is designed to reduce these financial barriers and improve long-term retention by creating stronger alignment between health systems and early-career professionals.

Saint Alphonsus is the first Trinity Health member to partner with Clasp.
