St. Louis University Hospital Nurses Ratify First Union Contract

Registered nurses at St. Louis University Hospital have ratified a collective-bargaining agreement, according to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch report.

SLUH's RNs voted to join the National Nurses Organizing Committee-Missouri, an affiliate of National Nurses United, last year, and this is the first union contract for the registered nurses at SLUH. It is also the first union contract for RNs at hospitals in the St. Louis area since 2007, when nurses at Mercy Hospital St. Louis decertified their union, according to the report.

The three-year contract includes raises across the board of 8.5 percent to 9.5 percent. The contract also bans mandatory overtime and prevents the hospital from implementing technology that could undermine the professional judgment of the nurses, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
