When a patient is registered under the wrong identity, it looks like a front-desk mistake. It doesn’t stay one.
A duplicate chart, an overlay or a record with incomplete demographics travels downstream through the entire revenue cycle. By the time anyone notices, it has already touched care and financial performance.
Identity is also a security target. In 2024, HHS warned that attackers were calling hospital IT help desks while posing as revenue cycle staff to gain account access. On the patient side, portal account takeover creates its own exposure.
Tightening every checkpoint isn’t the answer either. The verification that makes sense at a service desk can slow down an emergency department or frustrate a patient at a kiosk.
This webinar examines how health systems can strengthen identity workflows across the patient journey.
Learnings include:
- How to compare identity verification needs across the ED, registration, kiosks, MyChart and the service desk
- Where biometrics can raise identity confidence without hurting the patient experience
- How to develop a cross-functional identity strategy across patient access, revenue cycle, IT, security and clinical teams
