Dr. Basu comes to vRad having recently completed a one-year term in President Obama’s administration serving as a White House Fellow.

Dr. Basu will help advance vRad’s efforts, along with its radiologist and hospital partners, in expanding access, improving quality and reducing the total cost of care, according to the release.

“I am thrilled Pat is joining the vRad leadership team as chief medical officer and practicing radiologist,” said Rob Kill, vRad’s CEO, in the release. “As we focus on advancing radiology, having Pat’s knowledge and expertise will be a significant factor in our success.”

Prior to the White House Fellow appointment, Dr. Basu served on the faculty at Stanford University. He was a practicing radiologist at both Stanford University Medical Center and Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Hospital.

Dr. Basu received his medical doctorate and a master’s in business administration from the University of Chicago, as well as a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois.
