UCLA Opens Santa Monica Hospital Campus

UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica (Calif.) officially opened its doors over the weekend and began treating patients, according to a UCLA news release.

On Sunday, 125 patients were transported to the new, $572 million hospital, whose campus also features a branch of Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA and the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital.

The medical center features 266 beds with mostly private rooms; a 22-bed adult and pediatric intensive care unit; integrated interventional and surgical services, including radiology and cardiac-catheterization labs; 16 state-of-the-art operating rooms and pre- and post-anesthesia care units; a conference center with meeting rooms and a 90-seat auditorium; and a new cafeteria with indoor and outdoor seating.
