Study supports alcohol-based wipe for hand hygiene

New recommendations from the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America and Infectious Disease Society of America have recognized the efficacy and efficiency of alcohol-based hand wipes for those who can’t easily access sinks or wall-mounted sanitizer dispensers.

The updated finding covers wipes with 65 percent alcohol and over. PDI issued a release noting it offers the only FDA-approved 70 percent alcohol-based hand sanitizing wipe, which has been clinically proven to kill 99.99 percent of pathogens, according to a news release.
