Researchers studied patients with stage 0 to III breast cancer who were treated with breast-conserving therapy and received APBIb treatment. They assessed whether these patients were categorized as suitable, cautionary or unsuitable based on a consensus statement by ASTRO Health Services Research Committee. Results showed that of the patients treated with APBIb, 32 percent were suitable, 30 percent were cautionary and 36 percent were unsuitable.
However, the fastest increase in utilization was among patients who were classified as suitable.
