Hybrid OR Comes to New York’s St. Peter’s Hospital

St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, N.Y., has added a new hybrid operating room as part of its new cardiac and vascular intensive care unit, according to a Times Union news report.

The new hybrid operating room is a spacious 1,200-square-foot area featuring advanced imaging equipment to allow physicians to avoid more invasive procedures for cardiac and vascular patients when appropriate. The equipment includes a system that provides 3D images to surgeons.

The hybrid operating room also houses computer-assisted devices that allow more precise maneuvering of surgical instruments. The new operating room is meant to help physicians deliver higher quality care while achieving greater cost-savings, according to the news report.
