Rival Questioning Need for Replacement Hospital in West Virginia

West Virginia University Hospitals-East in Martinsburg is challenging plans for a replacement for War Memorial Hospital, a county facility in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., according to a report by the Martinsburg Journal.

Last year, Winchester, W.Va.-based Valley Health, which has been administering the 41-bed hospital, agreed to buy it from the county and build a new critical-access hospital.

But West Virginia University Hospitals-East now has challenged the plan, requesting a hearing on it before the Certificate of Need Division of the State Health Care Authority.
