Sources told Q13 Fox that a visitor snuck the snake into the hospital inside a cat carrier full of stuffed animals while the snake’s owner was in the hospital. When the owner went home from the hospital, he realized the python had escaped the carrier and immediately notified Tacoma General.
The reptile was found about a month later when it came out of the ceiling ventilation at the hospital April 30. A spokesman for Tacoma-based MultiCare Health System, which is Tacoma General’s parent system, confirmed the owner of the python had taken the snake home.
The ball python is a non-venomous constrictor. They typically do not grow large enough to pose a danger to humans, according to the report.
