While the hospital system has pledged not to leave the communities it is already in, the Suburban campus might be converted into an ASC or outpatient center, according to the story.

Executives did not mention a deadline for coming to a decision about a new name or restructured services.

West Penn Allegheny currently consists of two tertiary and four community hospitals. It was formed when West Penn merged with Allegheny General Hospital and its three suburban campuses after AGH’s parent company, the Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation, went bankrupt in 1998.
