The new standards focus on a patient-centered approach to cancer care, including a patient navigation process to address healthcare disparities and barriers to care, a screening process for psychosocial distress and a survivorship care plan that documents care received and aims to improve survivors’ quality of life.
Accredited programs will also be required to offer patients palliative care and genetic services, either on site or by referral.
