Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente laid off 38 California employees across multiple locations April 21, according to multiple WARN notices.
The positions were primarily business function-related and do not provide patients direct care, a spokesperson for Kaiser said in an April 29 statement shared with Becker’s.
“We do not make these decisions lightly,” the statement said. “The people affected by these staffing changes have made important contributions to Kaiser Permanente. We are helping them transition into other roles within Kaiser Permanente or, where necessary, will provide generous severance packages, career support and outplacement services.”
Kaiser, which has around 180,000 California employees, also shared plans to lay off 64 employees in early March.
