According to the American College of Surgeons’ Web site, the CoC Outstanding Achievement Award, established in 2004, recognizes cancer programs that strive for excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients, demonstrated during an on-site evaluation by a physician surveyor with seven standards that represent the full scope of the cancer program, including cancer committee leadership, cancer data management and quality improvement. The facility also receives a compliance rating for the remaining 29 cancer program standards.
Central DuPage was one of the first hospitals in the U.S. to offer robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery with bio-engineered bone protein. The hospital has won numerous other recognitions for achievement, according to the report.
