The trial will study 8,000 patients with stable ischemic heart disease and moderate to sever ischemia, the release said. The strategies to be investigated are whether an early invasive strategy with cardiac catheterization followed by revascularization and optimal medical therapy produces better results than a simply using OMT. It will also assess whether the invasive strategy improves “angina-related quality of life.”
