The name change has reportedly been discussed internally for several months, but is now being implemented publicly. Allina CEO Ken Paulus said a major reason for the name change is the 11-hospital system’s new strategy.
“We’re never going to build another hospital,” Mr. Paulus said in the report. Instead, the system is renewing its mission by becoming a “health organization,” including more home healthcare delivery and preventive care. “Yes, we’re a great set of hospitals and clinics. But that’s not enough. … We need our team to think bigger,” Mr. Paulus said in the report.
Allina was also named one of Medicare’s Pioneer Accountable Care Organizations in December.
