Massachusetts ranks as the best state for working dads, while New Mexico ranks the worst, according to a new list published June 10 by WalletHub.
The personal finance website compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across four dimensions: economic and social well-being, work-life balance, child care and health.
WalletHub evaluated those dimensions using 22 metrics, ranging from median family income (adjusted for cost of living) to unaffordability of doctor’s visits.
Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with 100 representing the best conditions for working dads. WalletHub used each state and the district’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its overall score and rank-order the places. More information about the methodology is available here.
