SSM Health NICU forms telemedicine partnership with Illinios hospital: 3 things to know

Marion, Ill.-based Heartland Regional Medical Center recently partnered with St. Louis-based SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital to support families in need of specialized newborn care, WPSD Local 6 reports.

Here are three things to know about the program.

1. Under the partnership, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital neonatal intensive care unit physicians will be able to examine infants at Heartland Regional Medical Center via a telemedicine monitoring cart.

2. The SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital physicians will work with the on-site medical team at Heartland Regional Medical Center to assess patient information and make diagnoses.

“You don’t need to leave this community to get a high quality, high level of care with outstanding personal services,” Hans Driessnack, COO of Heartland Regional Medical Center, told WPSD Local 6.

3. Heartland Regional Medical Center funded the $52,000 telemedicine cart used for the program.
