New telehealth company will provide abortion pills to those who are not pregnant

Telehealth startup Choix will provide abortion pills to people who are not pregnant, so they can stock up, according to Sept. 8 reporting in the Daily Press.

The two-pill package costs between $175 and $289 based on a sliding scale. Choix is licensed to operate in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maine and New Mexico.

The practice is known as "advance provision." The company has provided abortion care to 6,000 people.

"Abortion is so highly stigmatized and politicized that people accessing abortion care, even in states where it is legal, come to us with this additional feeling of anxiety about whether they will be allowed to get an abortion," Choix CEO Cindy Adam said. "Advanced provision really helps alleviate that stress and puts power back in the hands of the person seeking care."
