Medicare telehealth flexibilities to remain in place until 2024

The COVID-19 public health emergency is set to expire on May 11, but telehealth flexibilities for people with Medicare will remain in place until Dec. 31, 2024, according to the HHS.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 has extended the following Medicare telehealth flexibilities, according to a May 9 press release from the HHS:

  • People on Medicare will still be able to access telehealth services in any geographic area within the U.S.
  • Those on Medicare can conduct telehealth visits in their homes.
  • Some telehealth visits can be conducted via audio-only if someone cannot use both audio and video.
