10 most popular applications of virtual care

Around 79 percent of U.S. adults received healthcare virtually in 2017, according to Accenture's 2018 Consumer Survey on Digital Health.

The survey polled 1,501 adult U.S. residents in 2017 and 2,301 in 2018.

When asked what types of care they would like to receive virtually, the 2,301 respondents reported:

• Have an after-hours appointment: 73 percent
• Attend a class about a specific condition: 71 percent
• Have a follow-up appointment after seeing a physician or healthcare professional in person: 65 percent
• Discuss a specific health concern with a doctor or other healthcare provider: 62 percent
• Get follow-up care services at home after being hospitalized: 62 percent
• Participate in a family member's medical appointment: 59 percent
• Have an exam for a non-urgent condition such as a rash, sore throat or sinus condition: 57 percent
• Participate in mental health group therapy/counseling: 52 percent
• Have an exam by a specialist physician for an urgent concern: 29 percent
• Have an annual physical exam: 28 percent
