The device, called the unidose liquid system, is the first and only nasal treatment for patients with epilepsy. A plunger on the bottom of the device releases a drug into a patients’ nostril, which is quickly absorbed by the nasal mucosa.
The device can be used during or after a seizure and can be administered by people who are not healthcare professionals. Aptar’s subsidiary, Noble International, made a training device to teach caregivers how to use the system.
