The cuts will trim the company’s workforce in New York from 421 employees to 290 employees. The layoffs will occur by the first quarter of 2019.
The layoffs are a result of the devicemaker’s decision to transition its maintenance and repair departments to a facility in Illinois. The decision follows an analysis of how best to meet patient needs and ensure timely supply for customers, a Baxter spokesperson told Buffalo Business.
Affected employees will receive transition services with eligibility for severance and outplacement services, Baxter said.
