Children’s Medical Center Dallas anchors Children’s Health, which has served as North Texas’s leading pediatric health system for more than 113 years. In partnership with Dallas-based UT Southwestern Medical Center, Children’s Medical Center Dallas has been nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report across all 11 pediatric specialties for eight consecutive years and 14 times since 2008. Its heart center has performed more pediatric heart transplants than any program in the nation for three consecutive years, completing 26 heart transplants in 2025 alone, more than any other freestanding pediatric hospital in the country. The hospital campus spans 1.88 million square feet with 488 licensed beds and more than 6,100 team members, and it houses the only level 1 pediatric trauma center in North Texas along with a level 4 neonatal intensive care unit. The broader Children’s Health system has held Magnet designation for nursing excellence since 2009, and in 2024 it became the first and only health system in the nation to receive level 1 and 2 designations from the American College of Surgeons’ children’s surgery verification program at multiple hospitals. In 2024, Children’s Health and UT Southwestern broke ground on a $5 billion, 4.9-million-square-foot pediatric campus in Dallas, expected to open in 2031 with 552 inpatient rooms, 90 emergency exam rooms, 20 operating rooms and the largest level 4 neonatal intensive care unit in Dallas. Children’s Health currently supports more than 370 clinical trials across more than 50 pediatric specialty and subspecialty programs, including access to new gene therapies for rare and complex genetic diseases.
