Connecticut has the highest annual tobacco smoking-connected healthcare cost per smoker of all U.S. states, according to an analysis by WalletHub, a personal finance website.

To determine annual healthcare cost per smoker in each state, WalletHub analysts examined CDC data regarding annual healthcare costs caused by smoking — and divided that amount by the number of adult smokers in each state.
