Michigan Governor Puts Medicaid Expansion Efforts on Hold

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R) won't call lawmakers back for a special session to deliberate and vote on a proposed Medicaid expansion that he supports, according to a report by the Detroit Free Press. The Republican-led state Senate adjourned last Thursday without voting on an expansion bill passed by the House the previous week. Gov. Snyder, who is among several GOP governors who support Medicaid expansion despite widespread Republican opposition, cut short a trip to Israel but was not successful in pressuring lawmakers to a vote before they adjourned for the summer.

Senate leaders could call themselves back to the state capital for a vote, but most don't expect this to happen.
